Live Bait Tanks with Aerator Pump Complete Systems

Live bait well tanks are only part of the formula for keeping your live bait alive and lively. The right aerator pump is vital to oxygenate the water sufficiently. Depending on the amount of bait used, either the KA460 (maintains 10 lbs. of bait) or the KA1100  (maintains 40-50 lbs. of bait) will do the job beyond ordinary. Beside providing sufficient aeration, the pumps are gentle in disbursement. The KA1100 with its 1 1/8 inch nozzle provides extremely gentle aeration. This is important so that the bait is not water blasted which could result in the removal of scales and natural slime, a necessary ingredients needed to draw predator fish– not to mention the reduction of the bait's life. The aerator pumps can be purchased separately or as a tank and pump combination as listed below. Live Bait Well Treatments & Cleaner

Cleaning, maintaining, and enhancing the performance of your live bait well system is important if you want to maximize the life of your bait in their artificial environment. For example, when it comes to cleaning your live bait well, it is important not to use just any kind of cleaner which may leave a detrimental residue that may kill the baits in the next use. Foaming and ammonia odors are common when live baits are confined in live bait well systems. This is caused by the baits waste materials, slim secretion, along with aeration activity in the water. Such problems can cause the baits to perish prematurely if not kept to a minimal. Special treatments as follows will prove indispensable without harming the bait when used according to the instructions.

Aerator Filters For the KA460 Org. & Ka1100 Org.


Clogging aerator pump intake filters or impellers can be a real problem at times with certain kinds of baits and pumps with extended use. For example, when keeping live shrimp, the pump impeller and shaft can become tangled with shrimp feelers. In the worse case scenario, this can burn the pump out, not to mention reduce aeration performance. Another problem is intake filter stoppage due to scale and slim build up  when keeping porgies alive or other slimy bait fish. This will certainly cause insufficient aeration performance. When using either the KA1100 or KA460 aerator pumps, it is a good idea to increase the filtering capacity of the intake ports and to prevent baits from becoming entrapped below the pump's mounting section inside the bait tank well (view pump hold-down section inside bait tank: click). The KA307 upper pump filter and the KA308 lower filter will prevent these scenarios from arising. These filters are easily cleaned with freshwater and are ready for reuse.
